Pick the pathway that fits your profile: Very Highly Qualified, Shortage Occupation, Other Key Worker, or Start-up Founder.

Step 2: Confirm required conditions.
Check job offer, salary minima, shortage occupation lists, and start-up capital requirements before applying.

Step 3: Collect evidence for every point.
Prepare education, work experience, language certificates, and any bonus documents. AMS awards the official points.

Step 4: File your application.
Apply through the Austrian representation abroad or a residence authority in Austria, depending on your situation.

Step 5: AMS evaluation and labour market checks.
The AMS reviews points, salary, and labour market test requirements (for key worker routes).

Step 6: Receive the Red-White-Red Card (24 months).
If approved, you can live and work for the sponsoring employer.

Step 7: Upgrade to Red-White-Red Card Plus.
After 21 months of qualifying employment within 24 months, you can apply for RWR Card Plus for broader labour market access.

Step 8: Move toward long-term residence.
After meeting residence duration and integration requirements, you may qualify for long-term residence status. Check the official portal for current rules.
